Job Title: World Heritage Site Coordinator

Location: Telford & Wrekin Council

Pay rate: Negotiable

Working hours: 20 - 24 hours per week

Contract duration: 3 months

Work mode: Remote

Job Purpose: As the World Heritage Site (WHS) Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing and sustaining the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site (WHS). Your responsibilities include providing strategic guidance, coordinating with stakeholders, managing the implementation of the WHS Management Plan, and securing funding for WHS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the management of the Ironbridge Gorge WHS to uphold its Outstanding Universal Value.
  • Provide strategic and technical advice to stakeholders and manage the WHS Management Plan.
  • Lead the preparation of funding bids and collaborate with partners to raise support for WHS projects.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the Statement of Outstanding Universal Value and comply with UNESCO requirements.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder engagement plans to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support the marketing and promotion of the WHS as part of the council's Destination Telford Programme.
  • Provide input on Development Management issues and ensure compliance with planning policies.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines such as Sustainable/Cultural Heritage, Conservation, or Planning.
  • Experience in partnership working, project management, and grant funding applications.
  • Detailed knowledge of WHS legislation, traditional building techniques, and conservation practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
  • IT literacy with proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and GIS.
