Administrative Assistant
Pay: £14.13 per hour, 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri
Location: Kettering NN15 7QX, Office based only.
Length: end of December 2025
Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council for an experienced Administrative Assistant to join their Revenues & Benefits department to provide support with a range of administrative tasks.
As Administrative Assistant your typical duties will be:
- To manage and distribute post and record volumes of correspondence received
- To scan and index documentation using the document imaging system.
- To despatch notices to customers and process basic amendments to customer accounts
- To provide clerical support to staff in the Revenue and Benefits teams.
- To ensure that payments received are allocated correctly daily.
- To ensure that regular and ad hoc reports are dealt with promptly and accurately.
- To assist the billing and recovery team to ensure the effective billing and recovery of monies owed to the Council.
- To assist the benefits team with basic claim administration and verification.
- To ensure, wherever possible, that any potential entitlement / increased entitlement to benefits or supports is identified in respect of any liable customer.
- To ensure, wherever possible that cases of hardship are identified and that all potential claims for support or financial assistance have been registered.
We are looking for a clear communicator with a proactive, customer focused attitude, with experience of working in an office environment and carrying out a range of administrative tasks.
The perfect candidate will be:
- A quick learner with strong organisational skills
- Collaborate well with others and be flexible in their approach to meet the demands of the post and team
- Be able to deal with confidential and sensitive information
- Be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Understand and be able to comply with the Council's policies and procedures
