Work Profile

The Council receives a number of applications for taxi driver licences and vehicle licences on a daily basis. The Taxi Licensing Administrator will have the ability to process all types of licence applications received by the Council's Taxi Licensing Service and able to prioritise the processing of these correctly.

The Taxi Licensing Administrator will provide accurate, correct and front-line professional advice to licence holders. The post holder will also be competent in providing written advice which is legally correct and in compliance with the Council's policy and procedures. All applications need to be received, verified as correct and processed by using the Council's software.

The post holder will also be responsible for recording relevant data accurately on the Council's computer systems.

Taxi Licensing Assistant will be able to accurately check and verify all applications made and received by them, record income received correctly in line with the Council's processes and having verified all information necessary is correct produce accurate licences and documents to be signed off by the authorised Council officers.

The post holder will need to have an appreciation of the public safety risks of taxi licensing and the relevant enforcement duties, knowing when matters should be referred to a relevant supervisor for further action. The post holder may be expected to carry out, assist or contribute to enforcement operations that may be held from time to time.

The post holder will be expected to have basic mathematical skills to calculate relevant payments and licence durations and take payments over the telephone or in person using relevant software.

There will also be an expectation that the post holder will assist with other ad hoc duties such as preparation for meetings, note and minute taking, or other administrative functions in line with the experience and capability of the post holder.
