Job Title: PCV Driver - School & Private Hire
Location: Rougham Depot, Bury St Edmunds IP309LE
Required: Cat D Driving Licence required, training offered.
Reports to: Depot Manager Hours: 52 Weeks,
weekday shifts with additional evening and weekend availability as required
Salary: £15.30 per hour Monday to Friday, Overtime for weekend - x1.25 Saturday and x1.5 Sunday and Bank holidays
Job Purpose:
To provide safe, reliable, and courteous passenger transport services primarily for school children, with occasional evening and weekend duties for community or private hire services.
You will be representing the company in the community and must uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) in accordance with road traffic laws and company policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
• Ensure the safe boarding, seating, and disembarkation of passengers, particularly children and vulnerable users.
• Maintain a punctual timetable and adapt to changing traffic or weather conditions.
• Deliver excellent customer service and communicate effectively with passengers, school staff, parents, and members of the public.
• Complete required documentation including timesheets, incident reports, and mileage logs.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle. Uphold safeguarding practices and report any concerns in line with the company's safeguarding policy.
• Be available for occasional evening and weekend transport duties, including community events or private hire bookings.

Key Relationships:

• Transport Manager - receives instructions, reports issues, and communicates route information.
• Depot Manager - collaborates on scheduling and logistics. School Staff - liaises with teachers and support staff for student handovers.
• Parents and Guardians - ensures safe transport and communicates any concerns or delays.
• Passengers - provides a professional and courteous service at all times.
• Person Specification: Essential: Valid PCV (Category D) licence Current Driver CPC qualification Digital tachograph card Excellent driving record and awareness of road safety Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS check (required prior to start) Professional and courteous attitude Flexible and reliable, including availability for occasional unsociable hours.

Desirable:

• Experience in school transport or working with children and vulnerable passengers.
• First Aid training.

Uniform and training provided. This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and ongoing safeguarding training.
