Are you a skilled and enthusiastic cook looking for a rewarding role in a school kitchen? Vertas Group Limited is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the day-to-day running of our catering service at The Lanes Primary School.
About the Role:
As Assistant Cook, you will work closely with the Chef Manager to prepare and serve nutritious meals, maintain hygiene standards, and assist with kitchen administration. You will also help ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and may be required to deputise when needed.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and cooking school meals in line with nutritional guidelines
• Support with stock control, ordering and food budgets
• Maintain hygiene, health and safety standards
• Help with staff training and kitchen rotas
• Assist with additional catering needs beyond school meals
• Promote the school meal service to pupils and staff
• Deputise for the Chef Manager when required

What We're Looking For:

• Basic Food Hygiene certificate
• City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or relevant NVQ
• Minimum of 1 year's catering experience
• Good cooking skills and a high level of personal cleanliness
• Friendly, calm and helpful attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to undertake training and handle money
• Must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
