Building a Meaningful Career in Local Government – Rochelle’s Experience

​In our latest Future Forward local government career stories series, we spotlight Rochelle, Head of Partnerships and Development – Children’s Services at North Northamptonshire Council.

Rochelle’s journey in local government began 15 years ago as a funding officer in a children’s centre in Essex. It was here that she discovered her passion for making a difference in people's lives, leading her to pursue a similar role at the county council. Since then, Rochelle has steadily progressed through management positions, overseeing large-scale projects and driving transformation and service development, bringing us to today, where she leads a service of different teams.

Her success has been supported by the councils she has worked for, providing invaluable mentorship and development opportunities. Now, as she continues to advance, Rochelle is undertaking a Level 7 apprenticeship for senior leaders - further proof that local government offers continuous career growth.

Throughout her career, Rochelle has worked on inspiring projects that have directly benefited the community, reinforcing the meaningful impact of a local government career. Her story highlights the professional development, support, and sense of purpose that come with working in the sector.
