Opus People Solutions' Social Work recruitment team have collected an amazing 870 Easter Eggs to bring joy to children in care this spring.
The team gathered support from colleagues, friends, family members, and supplier agencies, including Seven and Social Work Partners, exceeding their original target of 400 eggs by more than double.
The chocolate treats were distributed among eight local authorities that Opus collaborates with to provide essential social work recruitment services (Suffolk County Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Milton Keynes City Council, Peterborough City Council, Walsall Council, Telford & Wrekin Council, and Shropshire Council) to be given to children and young people in care, providing them with a special surprise during the school holidays.
James Carr, Head of Social Work at Opus People Solutions, expressed his gratitude, stating, "I'm overwhelmed by the response to our campaign. Every day, we witness the incredible work that social work teams do within our councils, and we wanted to contribute to the spirit of giving. Achieving more than double the amount of donations we initially set out to collect is a testament to the kindness and generosity of our Opus community."
Selena Ayling, Director of Operations at Opus said: "This initiative highlights our commitment not just to recruitment but to making a positive impact in our communities. It's heartwarming to see our team and suppliers come together for such a worthy cause."
Andy Caville, Team Manager at Walsall Council’s Transition & Leaving Care Service said: “Donations such as these help us to celebrate with our young people and to remind them that they are held in mind and valued. Many of our young people struggle to afford little treats such as these, and it is an example of good corporate parenting when we can come together to arrange to offer these treats to our young people. We will be taking these Easter Eggs out to young people over the coming weeks to celebrate the end of winter and the coming of spring.”
