Job Title: Senior Safety & Resilience Officer

Location: Rugby Borough Council

Work Mode: On-site

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Pay Rate: £17.59 per hour

Assignment Duration: 3 months temporary with potential to become permanent

Role Overview:

As a Senior Safety & Resilience Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving behavioural change to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and welfare for our workforce. Your responsibilities will include implementing and monitoring health and safety policies, delivering comprehensive training programs, managing incidents, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, you'll support business resilience initiatives and act as a deputy for the Safety and Resilience Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess health and safety management, developing action plans and monitoring their implementation.
  • Investigate incidents, maintain an incident database, and produce reports for management review.
  • Occasionally visit various RBC locations and other premises as required.
  • Deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for staff, collaborating with communication teams to ensure information dissemination.
  • Partner with the Safety & Resilience Team to develop best practices and ensure risk-aware operations.
  • Support business continuity and emergency planning efforts, including testing, and reviewing plans.
  • Provide regular health, safety, and welfare management information, including newsletters.
  • Facilitate H&S coordinator meetings and support fire safety measures within Corporate Property.
  • Liaise with external authorities such as the HSE when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Driving license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to work towards them (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma).
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
