Job Title: Senior Environmental Protection Officer (3-month temporary assignment)
Location: Walsall Council (hybrid)
Pay rate: £27.27 per hour (Umbrella)
Working hours: 15 - 22 hours per week (Flexible)
Are you passionate about safeguarding the environment and making a positive impact on your community? We are seeking a Senior Environmental Protection Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of Walsall borough.
Regulate and mitigate environmental pollution and enforce environmental protection legislation to uphold the highest standards.
Conduct surveillance, monitoring, and protection activities to achieve performance targets.
Investigate and address complaints and incidents related to air pollution, air quality, noise, vibration, and other environmental concerns.
Inspect industrial and commercial processes subject to A2 and/or other complex environmental permitting requirements and oversee legal proceedings to ensure regulatory compliance.
Provide guidance and information on environmental matters to government bodies, council officers, businesses, and the public.
Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant degree or diploma in Environmental Health or specialist qualifications in environmental pollution, acoustics/noise/vibration, air pollution, or land/ground contamination.
Significant experience in industrial and/or commercial processes within a local authority, regulatory and enforcement, particularly involving industrial processes subject to Environmental Permitting in the UK.
Regulatory experience of A2 and/or Part B prescribed processes.
Ability to interpret technical and scientific information for informed decision-making and handle industrial and commercial environments with physical agents (e.g., air pollutants, noise, vibration, etc.).
