Job Title: Senior Economic Development Officer
Location: Rugby Borough Council
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: Negotiable
Work Mode: Hybrid (Thursday on-site)
Assignment Duration: 7 months temporary
Purpose of the Job:
Rugby Borough Council is seeking a Senior Economic Development Officer to promote Rugby as a prime location for business and living. This role will support the borough's economic aspirations and town centre regeneration by engaging with local businesses and fostering inward investment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for economic development, providing specialist advice to clients and businesses.
- Promote Rugby Borough to attract employment and investment.
- Engage with external business support partners to ensure coordinated business support.
- Respond to investment and expansion enquiries, presenting relevant property proposals.
- Maintain profiles of available sites and properties for investors.
- Manage public realm improvements and economic development grants.
- Liaise with private sector, community groups, and public bodies to implement the Council's Economic Strategy.
- Develop skills training and educational courses in collaboration with schools and agencies.
- Identify and apply for external funding with partner agencies.
- Oversee the Council's Agreement with Rugby First and manage economic development reports and presentations.
Requirements:
- Degree level qualification or relevant related experience.
- Experience in economic development or a related field.
- Strategic and political awareness with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Strong literacy, report writing, and communication skills.
- Effective project management abilities.
