Job description
Our client is looking to recruit a qualified, experienced and highly motivated swimming instructor to the position of Operations Manager for the Swimming Service. Working collaboratively, the Operations Manager will take responsibility for all aspects of Swimming services, directing and overseeing the effective and efficient day to day operations of school swimming across Suffolk as well as growing and developing the business.
This role is TERM TIME ONLY and we are accepting full time or part time applicants. This means you will work 40 weeks a year. The salary for a full time person, doing the 40 weeks a year as requested is £31,807. This is pro rata'd from £41,250.
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Operations Managers will direct and oversee the effective and efficient day to day operation of school swimming across the county of Suffolk as well as seek opportunities to grow and develop the business to ensure its continued position as the provider of choice for school swimming in Suffolk and where possible, further afield.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the timetabling of school swimming at all pools used by the service,
- Liaising with managers regards the budget and ensuring the cost effectiveness of the service,
- Dealing with staff absences and handling complaints and queries raised by any parties involved in school swimming,
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements for all staff involved in the teaching of school swimming,
- Ensuring the administration and business support functions provided by clerical staff are effective and efficiently undertaken.
- Providing information and safety training to all staff responsible for school swimming to ensure compliance and safe practice.
- Offering professional development opportunities for swimming instructors, school staff and others involved in the teaching of school swimming.
- Extending the range of training opportunities to include first aid, AED and other swimming related disciplines.
Minimum essential qualifications/experience:
- Experience as a swimming instructor
- ASA Teachers Award (Level 2) ideally
- Valid lifesaving or lifeguarding qualification.
- Enhanced DBS and evidence of attendance at Safeguard training within the past 3 year
Desirable additional qualifications:
- Evidence of continuous and up to-date professional development across the swimming disciplines.
- Up to-date knowledge of National Curriculum swimming.
