Remote - with travel for team meetings (London - Once per month) and to meet clients/stakeholders. Travel to the Huntingdon Head Office may be required on occasion.

37 Hours per week . Fixed term contract until March 2025 (with extension subject to future funding)

Are you looking to make a career move that matters? Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join the growing Greater South East Net Zero Hub (GSENZH) and help the government to deliver its net zero ambitions.

In this exciting and varied hands-on role, you will work closely with the Hub's Regional Head, other members of the senior management team and The Net Zero Hub Board to deliver the strategic objectives agreed between Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority and the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero to accelerate local net zero projects in the region.

The Operations Manager is a senior role in the Hub responsible for external communications, Board oversight and governance, business planning and performance.

As Operations Manager you will be responsible for developing strategies to increase external awareness of the Hub's unique offer. This will include developing effective communication plans to generate positive and high-profile awareness of the Hub's activities and establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, such as Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), government agencies, local authorities, private and third sector organisations, industry bodies, universities, and colleges.

The role is accountable for the functional operation of the Board, ensuring that all business is carried out in a thorough and timely manner. As a member of the GSENZH senior management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of the Data Analytics and Information Team, Strategic Stakeholder Manager, and the Hub Support Co-ordinator.

Funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Greater South East Net Zero Hub is one of five local Net Zero Hubs in England working to increase the number, scale and quality of local energy projects being delivered to transform our current energy system and reduce carbon emissions. Since 2018, the Net Zero Hubs have supported 200+ major net zero projects valued at over £4Bn including large scale solar, domestic retrofit and smart grids.

Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level Degree level or relevant industry/sector experience

  • Experience of governance, planning/operating at a strategic level including board/committee experience.

  • Experience of managing a team of direct reports

  • Performance management and monitoring experience/skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience of public sector procurement, public sector functions - finance, HR (desirable)

  • Communications and marketing experience (desirable)
