Title: Business Service Engineer

Rate: £19.35 PAYE - £25.16 umbrella

Location: Redditch and Bromsgrove Council Buildings. Ability to travel between and work on sites.

Type: Temporary - 12 weeks placement

Opus People Solutions are working with Bromsgrove and Redditch Council to recruit for a temporary Business Service Engineer to manage the service and maintenance of plant and equipment across our buildings, this is a management of the process position.

The Business Service- Engineer will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of cyclical maintenance, service and monitoring of Mechanical and electrical systems to comply with all current statutory regulations and good building maintenance practices.

The Business Service Engineer will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of Mechanical projects on Council managed properties including operation, non-operational buildings, investment land and buildings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To effectively manage reactive maintenance calls by interpreting the requirement of the call and allocating suitable contractors to carry out the works and technical support for works to be included in planned maintenance programmes
  • The post holder will be responsible for the Procurement and Management of Water risk assessments and associated works to ensure monitoring and compliance is maintained.
  • To manage contractors through the process of works from pre inspection to post-inspection, raising orders and certifying Invoices are correct including all aspects of CDM and Health and Safety
  • To prepare and present regular progress and performance reports on cyclical Mechanical contractors.
  • To undertake cyclical plant and equipment to identify reactive maintenance and prepare inspection reports to record inspections for presentation.
  • Assist in the production of contract documents for the refurbishment and maintenance of Councils Public Buildings by providing technical support and recommendation.
  • To prepare detailed scheme designs with costing, through feasibility and program to completion of project, including specification of works, organisation of documents for tender and advising on appointment of contractors, designers and procurement routes.
  • To provide regular updates to the Property Services Manager on progress and expenditure and ensure an effective and efficient delivery of projects.
  • Advising on the maintenance and supervision of the maintenance of building by providing technical support on the condition of existing plant and equipment, identify and analysing defects including proposals for repair.
  • To assist the Property Services manager with the effectively manage of the condition survey data base, updating as work are completed and assist in the preparation on planned maintenance programme.
  • To manage and control the BEMS and advise on Energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction to improve energy efficiency of the buildings.
  • To prepare/ collate and implement documentation to ensure works are undertaken in accordance with statutory regulations such as CDM, COSHH.
  • Undertake specific and non-routine administrative and clerical duties for collection of data, inspections as required.
