Title: Assistant Finance Business Partner
Location: Shewsbury/ Hybrid working
Rate: Flexiable - depending on expereince
Type: Temporary - 12 weeks with possible extension

Shropshire Council are looking for a proactive individual Assistant Finance Business Partner to join our effective Finance Business Partnering team who provide a strategic and value added service to the Council.
Through appropriate support and challenge you will provide budget holders with high quality advice, analysis, interpretation and information to budget holders to underpin effective decision making and meaningful performance management. Through appropriate support and challenge you will provide senior managers and service managers with expert business-related advice on financial management, accounting issues and value for money. You will support strategic policy development and ensure that a high standard of financial discipline is a fundamental part of decision-making processes. You will achieve high customer satisfaction levels and make a real and demonstrable difference to the delivery of the Council's business.
You will deliver excellence in reporting, analysis and financial control, ensuring that financial best practice is applied across your client service areas. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial information is collated and reported accurately within the Council's finance systems, and that risks and opportunities to the wider Council financial position are clearly understood.
To succeed in this role you will be AAT qualified or hold an equivalent business/accounting degree, and preferably will be CCAB qualified or working towards a CCAB qualification. You will have knowledge and understanding of local government finance as well as experience of providing financial advice and support to senior management within a large or complex organisation. You will be proactive in identifying trends, opportunities for change and solutions to budget problems and you will be an advocate for improvements in financial management.

The team have recently had an external review of the services it provides which stated that the finance service is technically good and works wells for the organisation. The team prides itself on helping its staff to grow and progress within their careers and we have several examples of team members that have gained qualifications and moved onto to more senior and leadership roles within the team. The move to agile working has allowed us to recruit and retain members of the team at any location across the country.
