Are you a skilled payroll professional looking for your next step in a forward-thinking and supportive environment? We're working with a well-established public sector organisation that's seeking a Senior Payroll Advisor to join their dynamic HR and payroll team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex queries, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, compliant payroll services.

About the Role:

As the Senior Payroll Advisor, you'll play a critical role in delivering an efficient, proactive payroll function. You'll be responsible for overseeing the full payroll cycle, ensuring all processes are accurate, timely, and aligned with current legislation.

You'll also act as a key point of escalation for the team, supporting the resolution of high-level queries and driving improvements in systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate payroll cycles, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Handle statutory year-end processes including P11Ds and RTI submissions
  • Provide expert advice on complex payroll matters and ensure legal compliance
  • Lead and support updates to payroll systems and processes
  • Encourage development within the payroll team and foster a customer-first approach
  • Work collaboratively across departments to identify practical people-focused solutions
  • Use technology to add value to internal processes and customer experience

What We're Looking For:

  • The successful candidate must have experience in completing P11D's, PSA, running BACS files and payroll processes.
  • A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience in payroll
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice
  • Proven experience in handling complex payroll issues and projects
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain technical matters clearly
  • A team player who remains calm under pressure and can manage their workload independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using payroll systems
  • Willingness to travel across the county and work flexibly when needed

Why Apply?

This role offers the chance to join a supportive and innovative team where your expertise will be valued, and your development encouraged. You'll play a key role in delivering a high-impact payroll service in an organisation committed to continuous improvement and making a real difference.
