Job description

Opus Teach is a supply agency based in Ipswich, which is local authority owned. We are currently recruiting for a Receptionist/Administrator to work with in one of our partnered schools in Northstowe, Cambridge.

We are looking for a candidate with administrative experience.

This is a temporary role; however a permanent contact may be offered on completion of the temporary post.

Term time only, 30 hours per week.

If you have children of your own the school may be able to offer a place for your children in their 'Kids Club' or Nursery.

Start date: Ideally as soon as possible.
End date: July 2023
Ideal working hours: 9.30/10am - 4pm
Hourly rate: £11.00 - £12.89 (dependent on experience)

Job requirements & responsibilities:

  • To provide administrative support such as photocopying, filing, faxing, completing routine forms.
  • Deal with general enquiries either by telephone or face to face and sign in visitors.
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming mail and post outgoing mail.
  • Produce and respond to correspondence using templates.
  • Be the first point of contact for sick pupils and liaise with parents/carers/staff.
  • Assist with arrangements for school events and visits including hospitality.
  • Contribute to the production of materials e.g., year books.


You will need:

  • Demonstrable experience in Administration.
  • Previous experience in a school office would be HIGHLY advantageous, however not essential.
  • An up-to-date enhanced DBS, or on the understanding you will need to apply for one.
  • Suitable professional references from previous employment.
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • A good understanding of school structure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • High levels of self-motivation and a positive approach.
