Job Title: IT Infrastructure Engineer - Messaging/Exchange
Location: Hybrid Role - One Angel Square and WFH (initially work from One Angel Square until inducted within IT and then 1 to 2 days from home)
Rate of Pay: £450 per day Umbrella or £346.15 per day PAYE
Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
Type: 3 months temporary
Opus People Solutions are working with West Northamptonshire Council to recruit for a IT Infrastructure Engineer - Messaging/Exchange.
Key Personnel Attributes include:
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to analyse complex issues, troubleshoot effectively, and provide timely resolutions in a fast-paced environment. Possess a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Security Focus: Solid understanding of IT security principles and practices, including user access control, data encryption, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills as regular customer interaction required (face-to-face, Email, Teams etc) with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills are essential with the ability to produce high quality and detailed documentation as necessary and as directed.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments - Architects, Application Support etc. Willingness to share knowledge, provide guidance, and support colleagues. Equally willing and capable of working under direction and their own initiative.
- Flexibility: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment. Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotations when necessary and complete ad-hoc duties and tasks allocated via line management as and when required.
Technical Requirements:
- Ideally, but not essential, a strong track record working in government bodies or the wider public sector
- Very strong knowledge and understanding of successfully administering all aspects of Microsoft Exchange Server technologies (2013, 2016, 2019 - upgrades, migrations, problem resolution etc), Exchange Online and Email Messaging architectures.
- Hands-on experience in managing and supporting Microsoft Infrastructure technologies including Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019), Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell, VMWare virtualisation and network services (DNS, DHCP).
- Strong experience of managing and working with Citrix Server and Citrix products
- Experience of working with Windows Virtual Desktop and any associated migrations to this product advantageous
- Microsoft Office 365 Admin advantageous
- Infrastructure Monitoring Tools - SCOM, Vantage DX, Solarwinds etc
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite - particularly Excel, Word and Teams
- Hands-on experience of building, deploying and supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktops utilising Autopilot, Endpoint Manager (Intune) and SSCM advantageous
- Exceptional communication skills - as regular customer interaction required (face-to-face, Email, Teams etc.)
- Motivated, self-starter who is tenacious and driven to achieve
- Must work well under pressure and successfully deliver to agreed timescales
