Opus People Solutions on behalf of Cambridge County Council are recruiting for a Infection Control Nurse to join their team on a temporary contract

Overall purpose of the role:

The post holder will support Cambridgeshire and Peterborough local authorities and partnership organisations in the management and prevention of infection through:
* Monitoring that robust processes are in place within social care provider organisations to demonstrate compliance with national standards for Infection Prevention Control (IPC), including the Health and Social Care Act 2008: Code of Practice on the Prevention and Control of Infections.
* Provision of expert advice around IPC
* Supporting best practice in IPC
* Supporting providers in the implementation of national guidance and evidence-based practice in IPC
* Influencing clinical practice relating to IPC
* Surveillance and analysis of infection data
* Provision of IPC education and training

Main Responsibilities:

  • Takes the lead in developing a programme of assurance work of IPC measures in commissioned social care providers
  • Undertakes complex case reviews where information is obtained from a variety of different sources (sometimes conflicting), and interprets information gained to provide an opinion of whether evidence-based practice has been followed, and to identify any learning that needs to be taken forward with the appropriate organisation / individual
  • Provides support to social care organisations and their IPC leads to implement national guidance and evidence-based practice

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Full NMC registration
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of experience in IPC

Requirements:

  • Understanding of principles of IP&C
  • Awareness of relevant infection prevention/communicable disease national strategy documents
  • Understanding of principles of Root Cause Analysis investigations and action planning to address lessons learned
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk management
