Job Title: Housing Options Advisors

Location: Hybrid - WFH and Kettering office.

Rate of Pay: £32 per hour Umbrella OR £24.62 per hour PAYE

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 37 hours

Type: Temporary Assignments until end of June 2024

Opus People Solutions are working with North Northamptonshire Council to recruit for 6 Housing Options Advisors.

x3 Housing Options Advisors - Making decisions in line with Part VII of the Housing Act following the end of the Relief period. They will make main duty decisions under s193 or intentionally homeless decisions. This may involved face to face interviews. Location wise will be WFH with occasional need to visit office for interviews - Standard DBS required.

x3 Housing Options Advisors - Working on new cases in approach to triage them and complete relevant homelessness enquires to determine if a duty is owed. This involves gathering information and interviewing homeless approaches. Location wise will be hybrid working - 3 days WFH, 2 days in the Kettering Office - Enhanced DBS required.

Experience:

  • An understanding and awareness of current challenges around housing and homelessness.
  • A good understanding and knowledge of current housing/homeless legislation, the Code of Guidance, good practice, and case-law
  • An understanding of the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the need to ensure accurate data entry for the purpose of producing statistical returns.
  • Experiencing of working in a social housing environment.
  • Experience of dealing with the public providing advice and/or support.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and guidance, to a variety of audiences, and to make clear, consistent decisions.
  • An effective problem-solver with an organised and imaginative approach to work and the ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to develop close professional relationships with colleagues and other professionals to generate positive outcomes for customers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a methodical manner, manage time, maintain accurate records, and respond promptly to enquiries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and use of English language.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate effective use of Office 365 (incl. Teams, OneDrive, etc.) or willingness to undertake training during the probation period.
