Job Title: Housing and Welfare Officer
Location: Walsall Council
Pay rate: £25 per hour
Work Mode: Hybrid working - Rotate weekly between office days of 2-3 days in the office
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Duration: 3 months (potential extension)

In this dynamic role, you will play a vital part in addressing homelessness, providing welfare benefits assistance, and supporting individuals in securing suitable housing options.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct section 184 decisions with homelessness applications, serving as the initial point of contact and performing triage.
- Perform thorough interviews and assessments to identify suitable housing options for individuals.
- Provide exceptional customer care, effectively managing customer enquiries and minimising waiting times.
- Assess households for participation in the Council's private rented sector access scheme.
- Make decisions on homelessness applications in accordance with legal frameworks and guidelines.
- Manage the assisted choice process for housing priority applicants.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Housing Legislation, Welfare Benefits, and Money Management.
- Previous experience in decision-making for homelessness applications.
- Proficient in service improvement and delivery.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
