Job description

Job Title: Homeless & Housing Solutions Officer

Pay Rate: Negotiable

Location: Redditch Borough Council

Work Mode: Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Assignment Duration: 6 months (Temporary)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide duty cover both in-person and via telephone.
  • Assess and manage homeless applications in accordance with homelessness legislation (Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 - 'HRA').
  • Demonstrate a confident working knowledge of Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Offer sound housing advice to applicants.
  • Stay informed about statutory and case law changes, as well as local and national homelessness issues.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team of officers, maintaining flexibility to address conflicting demands.
  • Attend meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in housing legislation.
  • Previous experience in decision-making related to homelessness applications.
  • Proficiency in service improvement and delivery.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
