Job description

Do you have experience working with vulnerable children and their families?
Perhaps you work in a children's home, in a school or in any setting where you work with vulnerable individuals or that requires you to have a good understanding of safeguarding?

We are currently looking for individuals with experience working with vulnerable children and their families to join our team, working in some of our services in the area.

Opus supports families with children/young people aged 0 - 19, who for many different reasons are receiving support, interventions and monitoring from either the local authorities or the children's social care services.
The support our staff provide takes place in different environments from family contact centres to the family home or in the community.

The low down..

  • We operate 7 days a week so shifts are available Monday - Sunday, daytime and evening. Our staff chose from a range of different shifts and days available to work with their current commitments/family life, creating their own weekly rota's.
  • You will support children and their families as advised by social workers, following any risk assessments and guidelines.
  • During each shift you will follow safeguarding procedures, complete detailed reports and ensure the children's safety is at the forefront of the session.

What skills and experience do you need to work as a Family support worker ;

  • Good experience and knowledge of Safeguarding and the procedures involved.
  • A caring, friendly nature and able to make both children and adults feel welcome and at ease.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Confidence - Not afraid to assess a situation and use authority to ensure the children's safety comes first at all times.
  • Good verbal and written communication. Able to write clear reports.
  • The ability to multi task working with, at times, more than one family.


Current pay rate is from £12ph.
* increases for weekend and bank holiday work. All mileage and expenses are paid for*
