Job description

Opus People Solutions on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council are looking for a Customer Service Advisor to provide an excellent first line customer contact service and where possible, working within agreed policies, procedures and standards, resolve enquiries at the first point of contact to maximise customer satisfaction.

This role is deemed to be multi - functional and there will be rotation through all One Stop Shop front line customer service teams as appropriate. You will be required to work in the cash office in the morning and then general administrative duties etc. in the afternoon.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop and maintain an in depth knowledge of the range of services provided by the One Stop Shop and elsewhere within the Council.
  • To deliver an excellent front line service to customers wishing to access the council's full range of services. This to include the handling of all initial customer contact received by CBC irrespective of the access channel used by the customer.
    To use exceptional customer service skills to provide an efficient and friendly service to customers across all communication channels.
  • To ensure ownership of One Stop Shop customer queries through to resolution using professional judgement, initiative and problem solving skills as appropriate.
  • To offer advice and guidance to customers wishing to access services not directly provided by the One Stop Shop, acting as advocate on the customer's behalf where appropriate.
  • To receive and handle customer payments in all acceptable forms in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. To reconcile the cashier banking and float at the end of the working day and generate applicable reports.
  • To provide a high quality reception service which will identify customer needs and enable appropriate follow on services to be provided in an efficient manner.
    To identify the individual support needs of our diverse client groups and take appropriate action to assist.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Good general education with recognised qualification in 5 subjects including Maths & English
  • Achieved or working towards recognised professional customer service qualification
  • Extensive experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Able to record information accurately
  • Able to prioritise and organise own work and meet deadlines

Additional Information

  • Initially temporary contract until end of the year
  • 37-Hour working week (9am-5pm Mon-Fri)
  • Office based in the Corby Cube
  • Corporate uniform will be provided
