About Role

Coventry City Council is currently recruiting for two experienced Social Workers to join its Adult Social Care Mental Health Service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a recovery-focused service supporting adults with complex mental health needs.

£28.40 Umbrella (£20.74 PAYE) | Locum Contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Care Act assessments, reviews and support planning.
  • Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions.
  • Manage complex caseloads within Adult Mental Health Services.
  • Complete and review Section 117 aftercare arrangements.
  • Work within a busy duty system, responding to urgent referrals and safeguarding concerns.
  • Undertake risk assessments and risk management planning.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, including health professionals and partner agencies.
  • Promote recovery-focused interventions to support positive outcomes for service users.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Extensive experience of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Care Act.
  • Experience working with adults receiving secondary mental health services.
  • Strong risk assessment and risk management experience.
  • Experience completing Section 117 reviews.
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy duty service.
  • Proven experience of multi-disciplinary working.
  • Manage a caseload of individuals with mental health and autism diagnoses.
  • Deliver recovery-focused social work interventions.
  • Complete Care Act and Mental Capacity Act assessments.
  • Participate in risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Conduct Section 117 Mental Health Act reviews.
  • Work closely with health professionals and wider multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Support individuals with complex needs to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
