About the Role

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Adult Social Care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in reablement and promoting independence for adults within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with a range of needs.
  • Promote independence and wellbeing through person-centred interventions.
  • Assess, recommend and implement appropriate equipment and adaptations.
  • Support individuals through reablement pathways to maximise independence and reduce ongoing care needs.
  • Review existing care packages and identify opportunities to improve outcomes and enhance independence.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, health professionals and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to safe and effective moving and handling assessments and plans.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working within Adult Social Care.
  • Experience supporting reablement and rehabilitation-focused interventions.
  • Proven experience of reviewing care packages and implementing approaches to reduce reliance on care services.
  • Experience of reducing moving and handling requirements, including implementing single-handed care practices where appropriate.
  • Strong assessment, communication and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
