About the Role
Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Assessing Social Worker to join its Adults Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker with a strong background in Adult Social Care, Learning Disabilities, and safeguarding work.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Care Act Assessments and reviews.
- Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act.
- Carry out Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries.
- Manage and progress Court of Protection work.
- Participate in duty work on a rota basis.
- Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and partner agencies.
- Support adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
- Experience within Adult Social Care.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation.
- Experience completing Court of Protection applications and related work.
- Previous experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and complex needs.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work autonomously.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
