Housing Finance Officer
Pay: £16.35 per hour, 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri
Location: Kettering, NN16 8PP, Office based only.
Length: until end of June 2026 initially, potential to become a permanent role.
Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council for a Housing Finance Officer to join their Housing Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a customer-focused service supporting housing finance operations and delivering essential support to tenants and leaseholders.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering financial and administrative support across the Housing Service, ensuring accurate management of income and expenditure across housing accounts.
You will also provide high-quality customer service, helping resolve queries and supporting residents with financial matters relating to their housing.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the Housing Finance inbox and responding to customer queries promptly
- Providing financial and accounting support to the Housing Service
- Processing payments, invoices, and financial transactions
- Setting up and maintaining direct debits and rent accounts
- Producing reports, reconciliations, and performance data
- Raising requisitions and processing supplier invoices
- Taking payments over the phone and supporting customer enquiries
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with audit requirements
- Supporting continuous improvement and effective service delivery across the team
About You
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is organised, proactive, and customer-focused, with experience in finance or housing-related services.
You will have:
- Experience working in a finance, income, or housing environment
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first approach
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- Good IT skills, including experience with finance or housing systems
- Confidence handling sensitive financial information
Desirable:
- Experience within a Local Authority or Housing Association
- Knowledge of housing finance processes or legislation
