Team Manager - Children in Care
Location: Hybrid Working
Rate: £41.42 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Minimum 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week

Are you an experienced Social Work Team Manager passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people? We are seeking a dedicated and motivated professional to lead a Children in Care team, providing strong leadership, management oversight, and strategic direction to social workers and family support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of Social Workers and a Family Support Worker holding caseloads of children in care.
- Provide effective leadership and management decision-making across complex cases.
- Drive permanency planning to ensure positive, long-term outcomes for children and young people.
- Deliver regular supervision, including both individual and group supervision sessions.
- Chair team meetings, strategy discussions, and other multi-agency forums.
- Lead on safeguarding concerns, risk management, and ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
- Monitor and progress care plans, ensuring children receive high-quality support and services.
- Promote best practice, performance management, and continuous professional development within the team.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Previous experience managing Children's Social Care teams.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and Children in Care processes.
- Experience chairing meetings and making complex management decisions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
