Recruitment & Onboarding Co-ordinator
Rate of Pay: £13.47 per hour PAYE
Location: One Friargate, Coventry, CV1 2FL with requirement to attend Council offices and locations for onsite Right to Work verifications.
Contract: Temporary basis until September 2026, with potential permanent opportunities available
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (30-minute unpaid break)
This role will be office-based during the initial training period. The duration of training will be confirmed by the hiring manager upon commencement. Following training, the role will move to a hybrid working pattern - 2 days per week onsite.
Purpose of the Role
Opus People Solutions aare currently recruiting for a Recruitment & Onboarding Co-ordinator to join a busy and fast-paced team supporting recruitment compliance and onboarding activities on behalf of our Client, Coventry City Council.
This role is ideal for an experienced onboarding or recruitment compliance professional who has a strong understanding of Right to Work requirements, DBS processes, and recruitment legislation. You will play a key role in ensuring employee records remain compliant, supporting audits, and delivering an excellent onboarding experience for both new and existing employees.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to various Council locations and offices to complete in-person Right to Work verification checks when required.
Key Responsibilities
Right to Work & Immigration Compliance
- Conduct compliant Right to Work checks for employees, including share code verification and in-person checks.
- Review and audit employee files to ensure Right to Work documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Upload and maintain employee records on HR and recruitment systems.
- Identify and resolve documentation gaps, including sponsorship and immigration-related records.
- Apply current UK Right to Work legislation and compliance requirements.
- Maintain audit trackers and spreadsheets, ensuring changes are accurately reflected on the Sponsor Management System (SMS).
- Manage the Right to Work mailbox and respond to employee and manager queries.
- Assist with the development, documentation and standardisation of onboarding processes.
DBS Administration
- Process DBS applications for new starters.
- Coordinate and manage DBS renewals for existing employees.
- Monitor DBS clearance progress and follow up outstanding checks.
- Ensure DBS records are maintained accurately and in line with compliance requirements.
- Support managers and employees with DBS-related queries and guidance.
General Recruitment & Onboarding Support
- Deliver an efficient and compliant recruitment and onboarding service.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support recruitment projects, audits and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all onboarding activities are completed within agreed service levels and deadlines.
Essential Requirements
Experience
- Previous experience within recruitment onboarding, compliance, or onboarding administration.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Experience managing compliance processes, documentation and audits.
- Experience building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Daily use of applicant tracking systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of current recruitment and onboarding legislation, processes and best practice is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Right to Work requirements and compliance obligations.
- Understanding of DBS processes and employment screening requirements.
- Knowledge of applicant tracking systems and how technology supports recruitment and onboarding activities.
