Social Worker - Family Safeguarding
Location: Fawcett House, Foster Road, Trumpington
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (2-3 days office based)
Rate: £39 per hour Umbrella
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join the City Family Support and Safeguarding Team based in Trumpington. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established Family Safeguarding service, supporting children and families through effective intervention, assessment, and planning.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must have previous experience working within a Family Safeguarding Team.
Candidates must have Court experience, including involvement in PLO and Section 31 Care Proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake statutory social work duties relating to Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children in Care (CIC).
- Complete statutory visits and maintain accurate, timely case recordings.
- Manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and CIC cases, including matters progressing through PLO and Care Proceedings.
- Prepare and complete high-quality court reports, parenting assessments, and risk assessments.
- Attend court hearings, supported by Senior Practitioners and Team Managers where required.
- Chair Child in Need (CIN) meetings and Core Group meetings.
- Participate in the team's duty rota and respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Attend and contribute to Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPCs) and Review Child Protection Conferences (RCPCs).
- Produce clear, evidence-based conference reports and assessments.
- Effectively assess, manage, and reduce risk to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals to ensure robust safeguarding practice.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
- A qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Experienced in Family Safeguarding settings and statutory children's social care.
- Confident in court work, report writing, and presenting evidence within legal proceedings.
- Knowledgeable in safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and risk assessment frameworks.
- Skilled in managing complex cases and delivering effective interventions.
- A collaborative practitioner with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
