Interim Corporate Finance Manager

Rugby (Hybrid Working) | Flexible Day Rate | Inside IR35

We are currently partnering with a District Council based in Rugby to recruit an experienced Interim Corporate Finance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable local government finance professional to join a busy finance team and take ownership of the Council's corporate finance function.

This position offers a flexible day rate, operating Inside IR35, with a hybrid working arrangement. During the initial onboarding period, the successful candidate will be expected to attend the Rugby office approximately 4 days per week to gain a thorough understanding of current operations and engage with key stakeholders. Following this, onsite attendance will reduce to 3 days per week, subject to business requirements.

About the Role

This is not a role focused solely on management and oversight. The Council requires a hands on, technically strong accountant who is willing to actively deliver key corporate finance activities while providing leadership and expertise across the function.

Essential Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
• Recent and substantial experience working within a District or Borough Council
• Strong technical accounting background within local government finance
• Proven experience managing and delivering corporate finance responsibilities
• Ability to work operationally and strategically within a fast paced environment

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have responsibility for a wide range of corporate finance activities, including:

• Production and completion of the Statement of Accounts
• Managing the External Audit process
• VAT compliance and reporting
• CIS returns
• Fixed Asset Register management
• Treasury Management and Banking activities
• Cashflow forecasting and management
• Accounts Payable oversight
• Delta returns
• Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) submissions
• Supporting all other core corporate finance functions as required
