We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practitioner to join a dynamic Adults Social Care team within a local authority in the West Midlands. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social work professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding outcomes for adults and supporting the development of practice excellence across teams.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will play a key leadership role, providing professional guidance, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring high-quality, person-centred interventions for adults with complex needs.

The Role

You will:

  • Manage a complex caseload involving adults with a range of social care needs.
  • Provide expert advice, consultation and support to social workers and team members.
  • Lead on complex assessments, safeguarding enquiries, Mental Capacity Act assessments and best interest decisions.
  • Promote strengths-based practice and person-centred approaches.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality care and support planning.
  • Act as a practice leader, contributing to service development and quality assurance.
  • Mentor, coach and support less experienced practitioners to enhance professional practice.
  • Work collaboratively with health partners, providers, carers and community organisations.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and workforce development.

About You
To be successful, you will have:

  • Qualified Social Worker status (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualification experience within Adults Social Care.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • The Care Act 2014
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005
    • Safeguarding Adults Procedures
    • Human Rights and Equality legislation
  • Experience managing complex and high-risk cases.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to provide professional supervision, coaching or mentoring.
  • Strong communication and partnership working skills.


This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
