About the Role
Milton Keynes City Council is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a stable, supportive team focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people in care.
Responsibilities
- Chair multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings
- Complete statutory assessments and annual reviews
- Develop and implement child-centred care plans
- Manage a caseload of up to 18 children, including those under care and placement orders
- Work collaboratively with professionals including IROs, health services, and education teams
- Ensure children's needs are met through direct work, life story work, and ongoing placement support
About the Team
- Stable and experienced leadership with a Team Manager and Deputy Manager
- Collaborative structure including Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, and Social Work Assistants
- Access to a Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Worker for additional support
- Strong focus on training, development, and shared learning through regular team sessions
- Dedicated support for adoption work, including life story book creation

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Recent Children in Care and adoption experience (within the last 5 years)
- Strong assessment, care planning, and case management skills
- Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
