Administrative Officer (Electoral Services)
Pay: £13.05 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm (1 hour lunch break)
Location: Coventry City Council, Earl Street, CV1 5RR (Hybrid working)
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Coventry City Council for an experienced Administrative Officer to join their busy Electoral Services team on a temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and customer-focused administrator to support the delivery of key council services. Following an initial office-based training period, the role will offer hybrid working arrangements.
Your typical duties in this role will be:
- Processing and managing applications and records in line with established procedures and guidance notes
- Accurately updating and maintaining records and databases
- Handling incoming emails and telephone enquiries from members of the public, providing a high standard of customer service and resolving queries where appropriate
- Liaising with internal departments and council employees to resolve queries and provide information
- Supporting the preparation and administration of electoral services activities, ensuring deadlines and service standards are met
- Delivering excellent customer service while dealing with sensitive or confidential information
- Following established procedures, guidance notes and statutory requirements to maintain accuracy and compliance
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to support team objectives and deliver excellent customer care
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous administrative experience within an office environment
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Experience handling customer enquiries via telephone and email
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A professional and confidential approach when handling information
