£14.59 PAYE / £18.51 Umbrella per hour

We are seeking an experienced Income & Recovery Officer to support a Local Authority team in the administration, collection, and recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Benefit Overpayments, and other Council debts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and recover outstanding Council debts in line with legislation and policy.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and monitor repayment plans.
• Handle customer enquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
• Trace absconded debtors using tracing tools and external agencies.
• Identify vulnerable customers and refer them for appropriate support.
• Liaise with internal departments, courts, enforcement agents, landlords, and other external bodies.
• Process refunds, write-offs, discounts, and account amendments where required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in Revenues, Recovery, Council Tax, Business Rates, or Debt Recovery.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and recovery processes.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and work independently.
