Senior Planning Officer - Enforcement

Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days on-site (office/site), 3 days remote

About the Role

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer (Enforcement) to support their Planning team during an exciting period of additional investment. With funding secured for the next few years, this role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact by increasing capacity and addressing a backlog of enforcement cases.

You will join a team of five enforcement professionals, playing a key role in progressing historic cases and taking formal action on priority sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and progress planning enforcement cases, including historic backlog work
• Draft enforcement notices and take formal action where required
• Manage appeals and represent enforcement cases effectively
• Undertake site visits and inspections (minimum 2 days per week, including Tuesdays)
• Collaborate with colleagues to prioritise and deliver enforcement outcomes

About You

• Proven experience within planning enforcement in a local authority setting
• Strong knowledge of enforcement legislation and procedures
• Experienced in drafting enforcement notices and handling appeals
• Able to manage a varied caseload and work autonomously
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
