Social Worker - Permanence Team

The Permanence Team is seeking a Social Worker to support children looked after by the Local Authority with adoption care plans, ensuring they achieve long‑term stability. You'll build positive, meaningful relationships with children, families, and carers, keeping each child at the centre of planning and decision‑making.

We're looking for someone with experience working with looked after children - whether in a LAC team, safeguarding, court work, or similar areas of children's services. This is a fast‑paced role where you'll work closely with the Children in Care Service and partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes for our young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake court work and contribute to permanency planning.
  • Use evidence‑based interventions with children, families, and carers.
  • Manage a varied caseload, responding to duty and prioritising effectively.
  • Build strong working relationships and respond appropriately to conflict.
  • Work autonomously while seeking guidance where needed.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, including CPRs (Child Permanence Reports).

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker (degree/diploma) registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with Children in Care and familiarity with adoption processes.
  • Motivated, organised, and committed to ongoing professional development.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS and Barred List check.

Benefits

  • SWE registration paid.
  • £4,000 welcome bonus and up to £8,000 relocation package.
  • Retention bonus for established staff.
  • 28 days annual leave + bank holidays, increasing after 5 years.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme with life cover and ill‑health protection.
  • Option to buy up to 25 extra days' leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounts with retailers, leisure, travel, and more.
  • Flexible and family‑friendly working options.
  • Supportive management and excellent learning & development.
  • Access to subsidised town‑centre parking.

If you thrive to make a difference and have 3 years Social worker experience and this is the role for you, then we would love to hear from you.
