About the Role
Northamptonshire Children's Trust is seeking experienced Social Workers to join our Duty & Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced, frontline service providing the first response to safeguarding concerns for children and young people across Northamptonshire.
As a key part of the countywide safeguarding response, DAAT ensures every child is seen promptly and receives the right level of support at the earliest opportunity.
DAAT acts as the single point of contact following referrals from the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). The service is made up of six teams, each consisting of:
- Team Manager
- Advanced Practitioner
- Social Workers
- Newly Qualified Social Workers
- Family Support Workers
Key Expectations
- Child in Need (CIN) visits: within 5 days
- Child Protection (CP) visits: within 24 hours, or same day where possible
- Caseloads are capped at 35, with current levels typically 25-30 cases
- Many cases include large sibling groups, meaning workers often manage around 5 families at a time
- Workloads are monitored and adjusted to ensure fairness and sustainability
Working Arrangements
- Operates on a 6-week duty cycle
- You will be required to be on-site for the full duty week
- Local availability is required during visiting weeks
Skills
- At least 2 years' experience within a Duty & Assessment Team
- Strong safeguarding and assessment skills
- The ability to work at pace while ensuring high-quality practice
- A commitment to delivering child-centred social work
