About the Role

Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Adoption and Kinship team. This role is vital in supporting children, families, and potential kinship carers by ensuring the highest quality assessments and informed decision-making for care planning.This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility around working from home. However, you must be able to visit the homes of potential kinship carers across the county to complete assessments. Attendance at Endeavour House every Wednesday is required for team meetings and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake kinship assessments of potential kinship carers within their homes.
  • Provide detailed, evidence‑based reports to inform decision-making, court care planning, and permanency arrangements.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, managers, and multi-agency partners.
  • Ensure all assessments adhere to statutory guidance, safeguarding principles, and council standards.

Skills

  • Previous experience completing kinship, special guardianship, or fostering assessments.
  • Strong analytical, report‑writing, and assessment skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously while maintaining excellent professional judgement.
  • A social work qualification and registration and Social Work England Registred
