Interim Lead Finance Officer - 4 Months
£500 per day (inside IR35)
Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite | Northampton
We are partnering with Northamptonshire Partnership Homes (NPH) to appoint an experienced Interim Lead Finance Officer for an initial 4 month assignment. This is a senior leadership role providing strategic and operational finance direction across the organisation, supporting transformation, governance, and high quality financial management.
This assignment is ideal for a seasoned public sector or housing sector finance leader who thrives in a hands on, fast paced environment and can provide stability, expertise and leadership during a key period.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a full business partnering service across the organisation, including budget monitoring, forecasting, KPI provision, analysis and advice.
- Lead the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting for EMT, Audit & Risk Committee, Board, and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Produce annual statutory accounts and support the Director of Resources to ensure an unmodified audit opinion.
- Oversee rent setting, annual rent reviews, and rental income analysis including liaison with estate agents and WNC Benefits teams.
- Support and maintain the NPH Financial Business Plan.
- Ensure consistent financial management practices, compliance with Financial Regulations and Standing Orders, and maintain up to date financial policies and strategies.
- Provide effective leadership to the finance team, promoting continuous learning, proactive risk management, and cross departmental collaboration.
- Develop and deliver budgets, financial planning, business cases and performance KPIs.
- Identify and respond to legislative and regulatory changes affecting service delivery.
- Represent finance across internal governance meetings, including monthly Finance and Resources teams.
What You'll Bring
- CCAB qualification (essential) and evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong experience operating at senior finance level within housing, local government, or a similar regulated environment.
- Demonstrable experience in business partnering, financial planning, statutory accounts, and corporate reporting.
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to coach, support and motivate teams.
- Ability to challenge constructively, drive efficiencies, and improve organisational performance.
- Highly collaborative style with excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
