About the Role
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join its Children's Safeguarding service on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is confident in managing complex cases and committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Hold and manage a varied and complex caseload in line with statutory requirements.
- Undertake high‑quality assessments, direct work, and intervention planning to safeguard children at risk of harm.
- Lead on child protection processes, including Section 47 enquiries, Initial Child Protection Conferences, and Child in Need planning.
- Produce timely, evidence‑based reports for court proceedings and multi‑agency meetings.
- Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, schools, health services, and other professionals to promote children's safety and wellbeing.
- Provide professional guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced team members.
- Ensure all work complies with legislation, local policies, and best practice standards.
- Is a qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
- Has strong experience within children's safeguarding, child protection, and complex casework.
- Brings excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
- Can work under pressure while delivering high‑quality, child‑centred practice.
- Is confident in partnership working and multi‑agency coordination.
- Has a commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement.
