About the Role
Milton Keynes Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our MASH / Duty Assessment Team. This role is central to our safeguarding response and is ideal for practitioners who excel in fast-paced, assessment-driven environments.
You will play a crucial role in the initial stages of child safeguarding by completing high-quality assessments that inform timely, proportionate, and effective decision-making. Working closely with multi-agency partners, you will gather and analyse information to identify risk, safeguard children, and ensure appropriate intervention pathways.
This is a frontline assessment role where professional curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake high-quality screening and assessment of referrals received via the MASH.
Analyse multi-agency information to identify levels of risk and determine next steps.
Make clear, evidence-based recommendations in line with statutory guidance and MK's practice model.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure timely information sharing and coordinated safeguarding responses.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records.
Ensure that children and families are at the centre of all assessment activity.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working is available.
You will be required to be office-based for the first four weeks to support induction and embed the MK practice model and values.
Requirements
Social Work qualification and SWE registration.
Valid driving licence.
Strong assessment experience, ideally within MASH, Duty, or Front Door services.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and make sound professional judgments.
