About the Role
Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub this is a pivotal leadership role, ensuring that children and families receive timely, effective safeguarding interventions through a collaborative, multi-agency approach.
As Service Manager, you will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership to a team that includes Team Managers, Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Children's Advice and Information Officers. You will champion best practice, drive service improvements, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage and supervise a Children and Families team, providing professional guidance and support.
- Multi-Agency Coordination: Identify and convene service meetings involving partner agencies, chair meetings where appropriate, and ensure clear outcomes and follow-up actions.
- Quality Assurance: Dip sample, audit, and produce regular reports for the Head of Service.
- Strategic Contribution: Prepare reports, attend the MASH Operations Group, and feedback to senior leadership.
- Service Development: Oversee MASH operations, lead projects, and support the implementation of Family First.
- Link Role: Act as the key liaison between MASH and the Emergency Duty Team (EDT), providing feedback and learning to improve practice.
- Social Work England registration and a recognised social work qualification.
- Extensive knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and child development.
- Proven experience in professional leadership, driving practice improvements, and preparing formal reports.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to evaluate complex information.
- Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and addressing inequality.
- Ability to provide high-quality, emotionally intelligent supervision and support staff development.
