Pensions Support Clerk

Pay: £13.95 per hour, 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Location: Northampton, One Angel Square NN1 1ED

Length: 3 months

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council for Pensions Support Clerk to join their team to provide pension scheme administration within Pensions Services relating to pension queries for the local government pension scheme.

Your duties as Pensions Support Clerk will be to:

  • Deliver a full range of administrative functions including Word processing, accurate records keeping, managing service mailboxes and dealing with telephone enquiries or complaints regarding refunds, retirement, transfers and death benefits, aiming for resolution or allocation to the appropriate team at the first point of contact
  • Respond to member correspondence relating to the work undertaken within the team, ensuring specified service level targets and deadlines are met
  • Liaise with customers and third parties to obtain and update information to maintain accurate records in line with internal processes and relevant regulations
  • Set up non-commercial suppliers using the council's Financial Management System (ERP Gold)
  • Carry out any other duties which fall within the scope of this post.

  • Able to pick up and learn new systems quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to spot discrepancies within data
  • Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Great team player and customer service champion
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential data in line with GDPR and council policies
  • Previous experience of working in Payroll and/or Pensions

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in the public sector
  • Experience and/or demonstrable knowledge of LGPS pensions
