Concertus are looking for a talented and proactive Architect or Architectural designer to join our collaborative team in Ipswich.

We're looking for someone who can plan, design, support and manage design and construction projects, ensuring the designs are compliant and economical. They value teamwork, integrity, and professional development and is excited to play an active role in shaping meaningful and strong relationships with both our clients and our team.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and implement statutory and relevant design guidance to projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of co-ordinated designs in accordance with RIBA plan of works.
  • Support the preparation of feasibility reports and high quality design proposals for the client
  • Work, with guidance from Seniors and Principals, around constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget.
  • Support the preparation of applications for planning and building control.
  • Assist in resolving issues which arise during the predesign/design/construction/post-construction stages of a project.
  • Co-ordinate with the project design team at all stages of projects.
  • Work closely with teams such as Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers and Architectural Assistants both internally and externally.
  • Travel regularly to construction sites, proposed locations and client meetings


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Degree, or be obtaining a degree, in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Strong design and drawing skills.
  • A keen interest in buildings and the built environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.
  • Understanding of the Building Regulations, relevant British and European Standards and an understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Understanding of current design regulations, and statutory approvals
  • Understanding of the ESFA Output specification and current Specification levels.
  • An awareness of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • CAD proficiency, 3D modelling and BIM.
  • UK Full Drivers Licence
  • CAD proficient. We use ArchiCAD but anticipate most applicants would have experience of AutoCAD/Revit, willingness to learn our software essential.


Salary range - £35K to £45K DOE
Experience in Education sector is an advantage but not essential.
