About the Role
Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by providing high-quality social work support and care planning.
Location: Civic Centre, Walsall (with flexibility to work from home and the Leaving Care Hub)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
- Develop and implement care plans in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
- Attend reviews, court hearings, and other statutory meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation.
- Support young people transitioning to independence through effective planning and engagement.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- Experience working within Children in Care services.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and care planning processes.
- Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List clearance.
