Peterborough City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Manager to lead a specialist team supporting children and young people in care. About the Role
As Team Manager, you will provide strong leadership and operational oversight for a small but dedicated team.
You will report directly to the Head of Service for Corporate Parenting and act as deputy to the Head of Service, working closely with the Service Manager for Corporate Parenting. This is a bespoke role requiring a proactive leader who can manage complex cases and ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities.
Location: Sand Martin House (Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office, negotiable based on tasks)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage social work staff supporting children and young people in care, outside the criminal justice system.
- Oversee cases where presenting behaviors may pose significant risks of harm to themselves or others.
- Ensure high-quality care planning and risk management strategies are in place.
- Act as deputy for the Head of Service, contributing to strategic planning and service development.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health services and police, to safeguard children effectively.
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing social work teams within children's services.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and risk management.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with health, police, and other agencies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
