Locum Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Conference Chair
Location: Countywide - Base to be agreed (Landmark House, Ipswich preferred)
Working Pattern: 2 days per week in the office, remainder remote
Rate: £40-£45 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary
Suffolk County Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Conference Chair to join our Safeguarding & Reviewing Officer Service. This is a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and planning for children and young people across Suffolk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chair child protection conferences and children in care reviews with effective scrutiny and progress tracking.
- Raise concerns or compliments across agencies to prevent drift and identify service gaps.
- Provide consultancy and practice leadership in Signs of Safety and Wellbeing.
- Monitor and report on planning outcomes for children to the Head of Safeguarding.
- Represent the service in complex meetings and multi-agency forums.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Proven experience in safeguarding, child protection, and care planning.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage risk and influence multi-agency practice.
