About the role:

Opus People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Taxi Licence Administrator to join a team based in Milton Keynes. Public transport plays a key role in Milton Keynes life. Every day, large numbers of people use taxis to get around Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. We need a well organised, hard working Administrator to assist the licensing team in checking and approving documents for new and existing taxi drivers and their vehicles. Our ideal candidate will preferably have an appreciation of public safety, and be aware of the risks involved with incorrect licensing.

  • Provide accurate, correct and front line professional advice to licence holders
  • Manage the reception area and ensuring that the workspace is tidy and organised and licensed drivers are managed in adequate fashion
  • Manage the Council’s vehicle testing diary, liaising with the vehicle testers and booking in vehicle tests
  • Receive applications and verify that they are correct, calculating the correct payment. All applications need to be received, verified as correct and processed by using the Council’s APP/Flare software
  • Accurately check and verify all applications made and received by the team
  • have an appreciation of the public safety risks of taxi licensing and the relevant enforcement duties, knowing when matters should be referred to a relevant supervisor for further action
  • Understand and ensure the need to observe confidentiality
  • Be able to communicate confidently and effectively with staff and licensed drivers and display commitment to team work
  • Be able to write letters and reports as instructed
  • Display a high degree of professionalism at all times
  • Great organisational skills
  • Good standard of verbal and written communication
  • Good standard of mathematic ability
  • Permanent equivalent council pay rates from week 12.
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum (pro rata), including bank holidays
