About the job:

Opus are looking for a part time/temporary Swimming Teacher for Brentwood Leisure Centre to work 1-2 hours per week on a casual basis but able to cover in any absence (including holidays). These hours are likely to increase throughout the year.

You will ensure an excellent level of teaching is being delivered to our customers. With exciting, engaging lessons and activities being delivered, achieving high standards and creating an exceptional experience for our customers.

  • To deliver the swimming development programme, in line with the appropriate guidelines.
  • To actively promote and market the swimming development programme.
  • To act in a manner which is professional and exhibits the right skills and behaviours, promoting the Council in a positive manner.
  • To contribute to achieving the Council’s corporate objectives and priorities.
  • To deliver high quality customer focused services which encourage and promote repeat custom and increase participation through sales and retention.
  • To effectively deal with customer complaints and enquiries and to be able to respond professionally both in person and in writing, in line with the appropriate procedures.
  • Follow the required Emergency Action Plan Procedures for the Centre.
  • To engage with and build positive relationships with customers to ensure that their requirements are at the centre of the design and delivery of services with the aim of achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • To set up and put away equipment for swimming lessons, ensuring all equipment is safe and effective for use.
  • To report any defects or faults with the facilities and equipment to the centre management and the Swim Academy and Activity Manager.
  • To mentor, promote, praise and encourage all swim academy customers.
  • To ensure the swim academy programme are operated in accordance with the appropriate framework.
  • To continuously assess swim academy students.
  • To be accountable for swim academy lesson administrator tasks.
  • To assist on the delivery of services ensuring they are operated within allocated resources whilst seeking opportunities to develop and implement more efficient and effective ways of working.
  • To attend training as and when required.
  • Support other departments within the centre as needed.
  • To ensure that all hazards are identified and managed to an acceptable level and ensure all relevant documentation is also completed. Maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times and undertaking regular reviews of all operational checks to ensure compliance. You will also ensure all students are instructed on poolside safety and the Emergency Action Plan.
  • To ensure that all data and sensitive information collected by the service meets the requirements set out Council’s policies and procedures meeting the legislative requirements of the General Personal Data Regulations (GDPR).
  • Undertake all the duties within the framework of Equal Opportunities.

Level 2 qualification as a Swimming Teacher but level 1 will be considered.
